The Ambush....

I found out how very easy sneaking around in the dark can be. At first, I was worried. I silently crossed in front of his living couch and I spotted my prey in the studio apartment. I was sick and tired of this. Such bull crap. Day in and day out, always playing that stupid violin...badly, I might add. Well I was ending it; no longer would I suffer sleepless nights and endless days.
Just a few more steps...finally here I was- face to face with the end of my misery. I felt sort of maniacal as I lifted the gun to the now silent irritant.

"What are you doing?" I heard a voice behind me just before I pulled the trigger. The light flipped on and I was caught... but this was NOT going to stop me. Before anything could be done, I turned around, pulled the trigger, and fired a round into the horrible instrument. Wood splintered everywhere as it was blown to pieces. I smiled...it was done.

Short Fiction =)

“It’s very hard to live in a studio apartment in San Jose with a man who’s learning to play violin.” That’s what she told the police when she handed them the empty revolver."

How is the author constructed on YouTube?

YouTube seems to me (in comparison with Facebook) to be more focused on the author's creativity. YouTube gives the authors, who can be anyone with a YouTube account, freedom to post (almost) anything that they would like to share with the world. YouTube seems to be about what YOU (YOUtube) as an individual want to share with the world. The freedom in this is that, what you share with the world doesn't even have to be about you. It can be about anything in your life, your sister, your high school, a concert you went too, a class project homemade movie, UFO sightings, Christmas with your family, or even that bum you saw pass out on the street. Whatever an author decides that he would like to share with the world, is what YouTube is about.

The "Tube" seems to be referring to 'watching' part of it (how some ppl call a television a "tube") this end is the receiving end I think. On YouTube, within your account, you can personalize the types of videos you like to watch and search.

Narrativity....

Alright, so as we just discussed in class, Narrativity can be a big topic in Fanfiction. How closely are you going to keep to the original story line? At what point in time, in comparison to the original story, is your fanfiction going to take place? Are you going to introduce two entirely different stories to one another and attempt to combine them?

These are all questions that need to be asked when beginning a fanfiction. When you have written your fanfiction and it is finished, generally the narrativity of it follows a certain pattern- there is a beginning a middle and an end, there is the build up to the climax, the climax, and then the closing of the story, generally with the issues resolved. Now that it is written, with all of these things incorporated, we need to ask, who is actually narrating? Is it you? Is it your narration or is it you and the original authors? If you have introduced new characters is it possible for there to be narration between your characters and say, JK Rowlings? Obviously it is, if you can write it, it can happen, however whose narrativity is it?

Because the internet has made it easier for all of us fans to connect and communicate with one another, there has also become this need to define who these stories we are writing belong to. We fanfictions authors are not entirely inventors as a "regular authors" are, I would classify us more as builders with a bit of an inventive side. We take pieces of stories and we make and take our own additions.

Some of the things I would like to discuss in my essay are 1) how the author of a story can suddenly become authorS 2) the legality of this and the opinion of the "original" authors, obviously not everyone can contact Stephenie Meyer to make sure she's cool with you writing a sequel to Breaking Dawn 3) how the internet and the speed at which information travels affects the spread of Fanfiction.

Fanfiction is a growing genre in the world of stories. Authorship can now have a plural meaning as others decide their imagination can take a story in a different direction. =)
